Wedding trends for 2013By Mala Webber

The trend for 2013 is all about sophistication and elegance – the formal wedding has become even more formal. Good-bye short dresses, hello full length gowns and black ties.
Vintage hairstyles and glamorous make-up
The trend in elegance this year also means sophisticated bridal hairstyles and make-up. For hairstyles: vintage hairstyles, elegant buns, side chignons and romantic, windblown styles are all big trends right now. Vintage styles take a page from hairstyles from the early 1900s. From intricate buns to simply ballerina buns, this trend gives a classic, sophisticated look. Side chignons are elegant with the sleek, deep side part.
One of the biggest make-up trends this year happens to be the nude make-up look. This look focuses on highlighting your beautiful features, using some light contouring but making it look as if you are not wearing any make-up. Another big make-up trend is the single feature focus. This involves downplaying most of your make-up while playing up one feature, such as your lips or focusing on the eyes. The smoky eye is a bold look for brides who want to make a big statement on their wedding day.
Glitter and lace wedding shoes
Sparkly shoes are most definitely in this year, along with vintage wedding shoes, mint green, lace and bold colours.
Classic colour palettes
Weddings this year are embracing a return to elegance and taking neutral colours to a new level. The neutral colour palette helps to create a classy environment and gives a feeling of simplicity which can look extremely sophisticated. Try cream & beige table linens.
Mint green is also one of the favourites this year since the pantone named ‘emerald green’ was named the colour of 2013. Mint green is fresh & crisp, but still subtle and goes with pinks & peaches really well. It also makes a great base colour for summer weddings.
Sleek black — incorporate it into cakes, table decorations and bridal dresses. You can even add it in subtly for those who aren’t big fans of black with hints of it in your decor & cake. Or try stripes which seems to be a favourite among brides as well.
